What is MRAID?

Mobile Rich Media Ad Interface Definitions (MRAID) is a standard API that allows mobile rich media ads to communicate with the apps they are running in. It provides a common set of commands for ads to expand, resize, or access device capabilities.

Where it is used

MRAID is used exclusively in in-app advertising environments. Instead of building different creatives for iOS and Android, developers build a single MRAID creative that communicates seamlessly with the native app via the MRAID API.

Why MRAID creatives need testing

Because MRAID ads rely on the native app for certain behaviors, testing them in a standard web browser can be difficult. The ad may throw JavaScript errors when it tries to call the MRAID API if it is not present. Testing ensures the ad handles these interactions gracefully.

How developers can use the tester
